As someone with personal experience living with chronic illnesses, Elysia knows what it’s like to feel like you’re fighting your body to survive, to feel like you’re trying everything, and seemingly getting nowhere. If you’ve ever been told “your labs are completely normal” or “there’s nothing wrong with you” but you’re in constant pain and discomfort, you’ve come to the right place. Elysia’s goal is to help those with hard-to-diagnose health issues and syndromes. Cancer, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, and rare disorders are all within her wheelhouse. You & Elysia will work together on things like coping with pain, increasing energy, managing stress, and healing childhood emotional wounds.

The way Elysia shows up with clients stems not only from her lived experience but also from her decade of training in Trauma Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She is also trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which means that Elysia can help everyone ages 5 and up with their traumatic experiences. Elysia works with both trauma and chronic illnesses as there is a strong connection between chronic illness and our early childhood traumas. Now this means that the stress we encounter early in life effects our nervous system through our fight or flight responses, and having cortisol flooding the body with trauma can cause later illnesses and other interesting things. So if you resonate with these points, schedule a consultation with Elysia about the ways she could help you achieve more control over your body.

Elysia offers virtual appointments only at this time.

Cecilia’s upbringing in a family marked by the complexities of divorce deeply influenced her to seek therapy herself. This personal experience made her acutely aware of the impact of life transitions on individuals, fostering a profound understanding of the anxieties and uncertainties that accompany life changes. Her approachable and empathetic nature allowed her to form deep connections with those around her. Her fascination with the diversity of perspectives and thoughts people can hold led her to pursue a career in psychology and clinical counseling.

She is a highly qualified professional, holding both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Psychology. She is also a licensed Clinical Counselor with the BCACC (RCC #22718), a testament to her dedication to the field.

Cecilia’s approach to clients is deeply formed by her own life experiences and her extensive training in a range of therapeutic techniques in the evidence-based field of therapies. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Fluent in Spanish and English, Cecilia has also worked as a Behavioral Therapist with children diagnosed with ASD and can connect with clients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that both language and culture are respected in the therapeutic process.

Her passion for understanding the human experience was nurtured by meaningful interactions with her family, friends, and grandparents, giving her a holistic perspective on how our thinking processes evolve through different life stages. She firmly believes that our early experiences, relationships, and the different life transitions we go through play a crucial role in shaping our view of the world. This belief is the bedrock of her approach to counseling, making her a counselor who is deeply committed to understanding her client’s unique experiences.
